"UGH. YOUR HORSE WON'T STAND AND LET ME BRAID HIM." Sinder griped to Alex as the colt in question pranced about crankily, his ears pinned, his teeth ready to take off any fingers that weren't quick enough to get out of the way. Alex shrugged.
"Then don't braid him. Pull his mane and show him like that. No big deal." Sinder blinked at the taller man.
"Oh, pull his mane? PULL IT? Are you nuts?! He won't let me braid it, there's no way he'll let me pull it."
"It's because you're a boy, and you're not asking properly." Sarah quipped from the corner where she'd already braided Isotope.
"Fine! Then you pull his mane!" Sinder fumed and stomped over to where Tympanic was standing patiently, watching inquisitively with large, dark eyes. Smoke stood next to him, her head sticking out over the stall guard, her head turned in the same direction, also watching. Sarah took the comb Alex handed her and stood at a stalemate with the horse for what seemed like forever, each just staring down the other until he gave, unpinned his ears and dropped his eyes to her boots.
Rewarding him with a scratch on his withers, she began to pull his mane as gently as she could, being patient when he shook his neck or shied away from the tug.
"See? He needs a lady's touch."
"In that case, he's your project." Alex grinned and walked out of the barn.
